Rahul Gandhi to start Bharat Nyay Yatra as Last Resort: January 14

In recent months, Rahul Gandhi faced pressure from fellow party members to embark on another yatra. The Congress leader has now officially announced the Bharat Nyay Yatra, covering a distance of 6,200km from the northeastern tip to the western shore of India. This yatra, scheduled from January to March, mirrors the Kanyakumari-to-Kashmir Bharat Jodo foot march, which energized party workers but yielded varied electoral results.

Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal revealed that the yatra will commence on January 14 in Manipur, a region marked by violence, and conclude on March 20 in Mumbai. The journey will traverse 14 states and 85 districts, primarily using buses and on foot. This timing is strategic as it concludes just weeks before the upcoming general elections in the summer.

The route will encompass Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Maharashtra. Notably, nine of these states were not covered during the Bharat Jodo Yatra in the previous year.

Venugopal stated, “It will culminate in Mumbai on March 20,” with party chief Mallikarjun Kharge inaugurating the yatra in Imphal.
