The latest developments in India-us relationship

On June 20th this year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited United States to address the US Congress where he was invited by President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden. It was the first time in Indian history that a Prime Minister was invited to address the US Congress more than once.

This meeting indicated how valuable the US partnership with India is to Biden. The visit strengthened the commitment of the two countries towards free, open, prosperous, and inclusive Indo-Pacific.

Initially, President Bill Clinton launched US-India Bilateral partnership during his March 2000 visit to India. Following his initiative, successors of Presidency have continued to work for the cause as well. Similarly, Indian Prime Ministers have also contributed to the progress of Bilateral Partnership throughout the past. However, recent years have seen unparalleled progress of the US-India bilateral relations.

The shared respect between the two leaders have been noticed during various events over the last few months such as  the G7 and Quad Summits in Hiroshima, the G20 Summit in Bali, the G7 Summit in Germany, and the G20 Summit in Italy.

Five summit-level interactions have taken place between the Quad -Australia, Japan, India, & USA in the last 25 months. Such attention to the Quad indicates the resolve to strengthen their partnership and face-off China’s growing expansionism.

One of the major areas of interest that both the nations share is the fight against terrorism. Along with that the other areas that bind the nations are to grapple China’s expansionism, and the presence of a big and influential Indian diaspora in the US. Platforms for cooperation in renewable energy, climate change, information technology, healthcare, agriculture, cyber security and many others are among the 60 plus bilateral dialogue mechanisms of the Partnership. The US is one of the top three suppliers of defense equipment to India.

Growth in the bilateral partnership in technology and innovation have also been observed in the past few months. The US-India CEO Forum was soft-launched in November 2022 and it’s focus include increasing supply chain resilience, enhancing energy security and reducing greenhouse gas emissions as well as advancing inclusive digital trade, and facilitating post-pandemic economic recovery, especially for small businesses.

During the meeting between Modi and Biden at the Quad Summit in Tokyo in 2022 the initiative on Critical and Emergent Technologies (iCET) was suggested. The intent of the initiative is to elevate and expand the bilateral strategic technology partnership and defense industrial cooperation. Ajit Doval the Indian National Security Advisor and his US counterpart, Jake Sullivan, solidified the concept in discussions during Doval’s visit to the US in January 2023. The iCET focuses on removing barriers in technology transfers and co-production, particularly in telecommunication and semiconductor chip supply chains.

The development and trade of technologies in critical domains such as semiconductors, space, telecom, quantum, AI, defense, biotech and others were the main focus during the inaugural meeting of the India-US Strategic Trade Dialogue held in the US in early June 2023.

India and the US despite their different opinions on wars and trade exchange realize that the areas of bilateral importance are far greater.

added a post title to possibly grab folk’s attention? I mean The latest developments in India-us relationship – Zero
to India is a little boring. You might look at Yahoo’s home page and watch how they write post titles to
get people interested. You might try adding a video or a related picture
or two to get people excited about what you’ve written.
In my opinion, it could make your website a little bit more interesting.

  3. Undeniably consider that that you stated. Your favorite justification appeared to be on the web the easiest
factor to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get annoyed at the same time as people think about issues that they just don’t realize
